President’s Message

June 27, 2016

Dear Students,

I am so pleased that you will be returning to Adelphi in the fall and want to thank you for your confidence in our commitment to your success. I am writing to update you on the University’s tuition rate for the 2016–2017 academic year.

Next year’s tuition will increase by 5 percent from its current level. Our goal in establishing the new rate was to keep Adelphi’s tuition among the lowest of private universities in the region and to continue to invest in the academics, services and supports that set our students up for success.

We remain deeply dedicated to providing financial aid to students. Currently, more than 90 percent of Adelphi students receive tuition support—a total investment of approximately $60 million.

Academic excellence is a top priority. Adelphi stands apart among Long Island universities for spending the largest percent of its budget on instruction. Your tuition enables us to hire and support accomplished faculty, offer personalized attention through small classes and invest in improved classroom spaces and information technology.

We are proud of Adelphi’s record as a leading university in the region with strong graduation rates and high student satisfaction. We will continue to enhance the programs and support systems that enable diverse students to thrive at Adelphi and beyond.

We know that college is a significant investment, and I, along with Adelphi’s trustees and senior administrators, strive to operate in the most efficient manner. You have my pledge that we will work to keep Adelphi affordable and continue to invest in the areas that improve students’ experiences and outcomes.

We understand that you may have questions about your tuition or financial needs. Our Office of Student Financial Services is available to answer any questions you may have. You can reach the office by phone at 516.877.3080, by email at financialservices@adelphi.edu and by meeting with a financial aid counselor in the lower level of Levermore Hall, Room 1. Office hours and additional information are available on the office’s website. On this site, you can also find a comprehensive listing of the 2016–2017 tuition and fees, including room and board rates.

I look forward to a wonderful 2016–2017 year and thank you for being such a vital part of the Adelphi community.

All the best,

Riordan-Full-Signature
Christine M. Riordan, Ph.D.
President
